Project Information

Orphans Song plans to work on projects that will begin with orphaned children in China and will eventually grow to include help for orphaned children in other countries.

During the summer of 2007, Martha traveled to China and was able to help the missionaries who run a foster home for orphaned children by purchasing much needed supplies. She also worked alongside the nannies in an orphanage in southern China. She rocked the babies and helped to care for the orphans. With funds, that had been donated by adoptive families that Martha has worked with, she was able to purchase 4 beds, 4 mattresses, medical supplies, food, air conditioners, and a hot water heater to provide hot water for bathing. In addition, she purchased an indoor play set for preschool age children, which included a slide to help develop strong bodies while having fun. The funds also provided for surgery to remove a facial birthmark for an orphaned girl. Now that little girl smiles all the time!

In the fall of 2007, Orphans Song donated funds that allowed an orphan child to attend a wonderful school that she would not have otherwise been able to attend. Funds have been donated to a foster home for orphans in China that will allow educational materials to be purchased so that the orphaned children will have educational stimulation.

Future projects include:

Playground Play Set

Orphans Song is currently raising funds to purchase a large outdoor playground play set, similar to the one pictured, for an orphanage in southern China. This play set will provide preschool age orphans, as well as school age orphans, a place to play and have fun. This type of playing and climbing is vital for building strong bones and muscles and developing gross motor movement skills. The approximate cost of this play set, including set-up, is $5,000.

Transportation Vehicle

Orphans Song is currently raising funds for missionaries to purchase a reliable used, Chinese manufactured van, similar to the one in the picture. These missionaries operate a foster home in southern China that currently has 27 orphaned children. Many of these children have special needs and health issues that require frequent trips to the doctor or hospital; these missionaries need a reliable mode of transportation. The approximate cost of this van is $7,000.
